Welcoming Roadmap Brewing Co.

Like Dylan, we feel as if the times are a’ changing. Those words seem to perfectly represent the way things have been going around San Antonio lately. For a long time now, this has been a sleeper city of sorts. The community was made up of less than a dozen breweries despite being the 7th largest city in the US and home to 1.5 million people.

Until recently. Now we are beginning to see new spots pop up left and right and it is a step in the right direction for a city that has been vastly underserved these last few decades. And that’s why we were more than excited to attend Roadmap Brewing’s grand opening a couple of weeks ago.

The recent addition of Roadmap Brewing Co. finds us looking at a trend of breweries moving to be the anchor of their immediate neighborhoods and focusing on serving their direct market. Rather than fight for shelf space as a new brand or tread the waters of signing with a major distributor that juggles a portfolio of other breweries, owners Dustin and Hannah Baker will be able to ensure each beer that reaches a customer is served with a personal touch.

Their brewery, a substantial 8,200 sq. ft. facility located at 723 N. Alamo St., lets you know that they mean business the second you walk in. Their taproom has no walls separating it from the brewing operation that is directly adjacent and is a welcome departure from the typical equipment hidden away from consumers. This gives you a real feel for how much work is going into every pint you enjoy and blends the worlds between consumer and maker. Don’t worry, you will still be able to find Roadmap’s beer outside of their brewery, it will just be distributed by the company itself which will allow them to maintain a great relationship with everybody that carries Roadmap beer.

We can’t recommend enough giving them a visit and joining us in both celebrating and welcoming the new kids on the block—or should we say road? We’re excited to have Roadmap join the ranks of the San Antonio brewing community and look forward to a bright future ahead.
